Shri P.D. Jadhav, popularly known as Annasaheb established Bhartiya Samaj Unnati Mandal in 1948 with a motive of 'A Literate India'. Being aware of lack of education facilities in the rural parts, Annasaheb took up a mission to bring schools within a reachable distance for the large population residing in the darkness of illiteracy and poverty. For this segment of people, education was a distant dream. Annasaheb realized that merely bringing school was not a solution for people without proper food, clothing and shelter. For this reason Annasaheb established 'Ashram Schools', where food, clothing and shelter could be provided with education. He traveled around the Bhiwandi area of Thane and soon established 15 primary and secondary schools and 6 'ashram schools'. After his sad demise, the Organization continued his work, however could not manage to make much progress.

A few years later in 2006, Annasaheb's son, Shri Vijay Jadhav and Shri B. D. Kale One of his close aides took charge and fresh beginning for Padmashri Annasaheb Jadhav Bhartiya Samaj Unnati Mandal, was made. With the efforts of the team under this new leadership, today, about 40,000 children are getting education through 28 primary and secondary schools, 12 'ashram schools' and 8 higher secondary schools and colleges. Schools and 'Ashram Schools' under the aegis of PAJBSUM are spread in 18 villages surrounding Bhiwandi catering mostly to the unfortunate section of our society.

Mandal's trust entered the field of education in the year 1948 by starting residential school. At present the management is running 9 Residential Schools, 25 high schools, 14 Hostels, 9 Junior Colleges, 2 Senior Colleges,2 Technical Vocational Colleges, 1 Skill Development Center and 1 Management College (MBA), In addition to above the Mandal's has started new Law College from the academic year 2019-20.

About College Location:

Ambikabai Jadhav Mahila Mahavidyalaya is situated in a rural area in Vajreshwari, Taluka Bhiwandi, District Thane, Maharashtra. The Government of Maharashtra has declared this area as a tribal area. Situated on the banks of river Tansa, this village is 31 km from Virar railway station of Western Railway and 84 km from Mumbai. The village of Vajreshwari, famous as a place of pilgrimage, has a mythological and historical significance. At this place, Adishakti killed Kalikal by throwing a thunderbolt at him. From that, Lord Ramachandra named her Vajrayogini etc. In 1739, Chimaji Appa, younger brother of the first BajiraoPeshwa, conquered Vasai fort which was under Portuguese control. Assuming that this success was due to the blessings of the Goddess, he built a temple of service. Their structure is similar to the fort of Vasai and in the temple there are idols of Vajreshwari, Renuka and Kalika. The whole area has fragrant hot springs and many devotees come here for pilgrimage.
